Due to Typhoon Matmo serious hit on July 23, many landslides found in Taroko, Tourist are advised not to enter the park temporally

Date Jul. 30, 2014

The typhoon Matmo brought too much heavy rains, caused serious damages to the highway no. 8-the Central Cross-Island Highway and trails. Taroko groge from the east entrance to Tianxiang-the 19 kilometers area will not be opened until August 15, 2014 due to the landslides at Baisha Bridge which is about 6.5 kilometers from the east entrance to Taroko gorge. Most of trails still remain closed due to the typhoon damages. The Highway maintenance Luoshao office shows the road will not be reopened for cars at Baisha Bridge before August 15. Buses will be reopened on August 20 at Baisha Bridge.

The Taroko Visitor Center has been reopened on July 24, 2014. Hopefully, the Eternal Spring Shrine can be reopened on July 28. The Swallow Grotto trail, Bullowan, and the rest of trails in park are affected by the serious damages and landslides.

The scenic spots along the highway no. 8 and trails in the park are still closed. Please do not enter the park shortly. We try our best to repair them and hopefully they will be reopened soon.

you have any questions or requests, please write to us or call us to confirm the road or trail opening conditions or check the latest status from http://www.taroko.gov.tw/English/ .
